Wildflowers grew out of my early exploration of collage as a creative practice. From the beginning, I knew that wildflowers would be at the center of the work, although I wasn't sure why. Their presence felt instinctively right, and I trusted that impulse as the series unfolded.
Working with layers of painted papers, printed fragments, handwritten marks, and found materials, I build each composition through a process of discovery. Rather than following a predetermined plan, I respond to what emerges from the interaction of color, texture, shape, and line. The flowers serve as a constant presence within these changing visual landscapes.
As the series developed, I began to understand my attraction to wildflowers. They thrive outside carefully controlled spaces, adapting to their surroundings and appearing where conditions allow. Their resilience mirrors the creative process itself. Both require patience, attentiveness, and a willingness to trust what is not yet fully understood.
The repeated circles, scattered dots, layered text, and luminous blue-green palette suggest cycles of growth, connection, and renewal. Beneath and around the flowers, fragments of language, music, and memory remain visible, creating a sense of history embedded within the work.
For me, this series is about emergence—not only the emergence of flowers from the landscape, but also the emergence of meaning through the act of making. What began as an intuitive attraction to a simple wildflower gradually became an exploration of discovery, resilience, and the unexpected beauty found in allowing something to unfold naturally.
