This series began as an exploration of limitation. Working with a neutral palette and a deliberately restricted selection of papers, I challenged myself to create visual interest through composition, texture, repetition, and contrast rather than through color or an abundance of materials.
Each collage evolved through a process of arranging and rearranging simple elements—torn edges, geometric forms, repeated circles, handwritten marks, and layered surfaces. As the work developed, individual words emerged as focal points: Love, Peace, Balance, Create, Joyful, and Playful. These words do not function as directives or conclusions but as points of reflection, inviting contemplation of qualities that shape our daily lives.
The repeated circular forms suggest wholeness, continuity, and connection, while the limited palette creates a sense of quiet focus. Gold accents introduce moments of illumination and emphasis, drawing attention to the beauty that can emerge from simplicity and restraint.
Through this series, I discovered that limitation can be a catalyst for creativity. By reducing my visual vocabulary, I became more attentive to subtle relationships between shape, texture, values, and meaning. These works are small meditations on presence, intention, and the qualities that help us navigate the complexities of everyday life.
