This series explores the profound human experience of being seen—not simply observed, but genuinely recognized, acknowledged, and understood.
Each collage is built through layers of painted papers, handwritten fragments, marks, textures, and translucent surfaces. Within these layered environments, the image of the eye emerges as a recurring focal point. The eyes are partially concealed and partially revealed, reflecting the complex ways we present ourselves to the world while simultaneously longing for authentic connection.
The warm palette of reds, oranges, golds, and deep neutrals evokes energy, vulnerability, courage, and transformation. Circular forms and looping gold lines move throughout the compositions, suggesting connection, movement, and the invisible threads that exist between people. The layered surfaces act as metaphors for the stories, experiences, protections, and identities we accumulate over time.
For me, these works are not portraits of specific individuals. They are reflections on a universal human desire—to be known, accepted, and witnessed. To be truly seen can affirm our existence, deepen our sense of belonging, and create the possibility for growth, healing, and connection.
